Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala is pouring praises on her teammates for the roles they have played in helping her maintain a stunning scoring form in only her first full season with the Catalan club, megasportsarena.com reports.
After notching her sixth goal of the new campaign, and 16th overall since first arriving on loan mid-season from Dalian Quanjian of China, Oshoala said she was thrilled to maintain her scoring form, but put it all down to cordial relations in her team and massive support from her pals.
The three-time African Women Footballer of The Year struck her latest goal last weekend against Logrono, after which she went on to disclose that constant encouragement from her teammates has motivated her rain of goals in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola.
It is a remarkable turnaround for Oshoala, who boasted nine goals in five pre-season games for Barcelona but failed to find the back of the net in three opening competitive matches for the UEFA Women’s Champions League runners=-up.
‘Super Zee’ then broke her personal deadlock with a brace in La Blaguares’ 6-1 win over Iberdrola champions, Atletico Madrid on September 21 and, after netting in four consecutive matches, the last coming in a 5-0 mauling of Logrono on Sunday, the 25-year-old former Liverpool Ladies and Arsenal Women of England star has thanked her teammates for her impressive performances.
Oshoala told Goal: “I think it’s about the team spirit and the love from the girls. It’s the most important thing in football when you have teammates that help you get better in every game. Each game we play, we try to encourage each other.
“We don’t yell at each other but encourage ourselves. In difficult moments, when we try to get goals in very important games, we try to keep our heads up and encourage each other, even when people make mistakes on the field of play.
“Basically for me, sometimes, you get things right and sometimes it seems like it’s not working out but you just need to keep working and put yourself together and get back up.”
