All expectations of a likely move to Club Brugge of Belgium this summer by Queens Park Rangers of England rave of the moment and one-time Super Eagles’ invitee, Bright Osayi-Samuel have been dashed by his English Championship team, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Osayi-Samuel had been hoping his sterling form with QPR would pave way for him to join Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure and David Chidozie Okereke at Brugge, the youthful winger has been told he is going nowhere.
This is sequel to a report by Sky Sports which confirmed that The Rs have rejected a £3m bid by the Belgian giants for the 22-year-old forward, who has been one of the Championship club’s standout performers this season, alongside fellow-Nigerian-born youngster Eberechi Eze.
Osayi-Samuel has a year left on his current deal and has recently been linked with moves to West Ham United and Norwich City in the English Premier League, but Brugge were hopeful they could entice the lad with an opportunity of playing n the UEFA Champions League next season.
However, it is not yet known whether Brugge will return with an improved offer for Osayi-Samuel, who started his career with Blackpool before moving to Loftus Park in September 2017 and has since scored 10 goals in 84 appearances for QPR, with his most productive season ever also including netting six times in 32 games.
A report by Sky Sports added: “QPR have turned down a £3m bid from Club Brugge for Osayi-Samuel. The 22-year-old has caught the eye for the Championship outfit this season after scoring five goals and registering seven assists in 29 appearances.
“The Belgian side were reportedly hoping to land the forward for a cut-price fee as he has only a year remaining on his current contract. But with interest from West Ham and Norwich, it’s clear the Rs think they could fetch a higher fee for the talented youngster.”
