Leicester City of England midfielder, Kelechi Iheanacho has promised that he will not get carried away by his return to goals scoring form with the former English Premier League champions, as he promised to keep his head help up and continue working harder, megasportsarena.com reports.
Iheanacho netted his third EPL goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-1 win away to West Ham United, making it five overall in all competitions with The Foxes, after which a rain of accolades came his way, but the former Columbus Crew of America and Manchester City of England youngster says he will not get carried away.
Rather than relax on his oars, ‘Kelele’ admitted it has been a very thorny season for him at King Power Stadium, as he failed to make the match day squad for several weeks and came even to the brink of concluding talks for a transfer next month, as his lack of activity with the club caused him to lose his place in the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles.
A recent run of goals scoring form for the UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and most valuable player is a lot of difference from few weeks ago for him, when Iheanacho was touted to leave King Power Stadium in the winter transfer market due to a lack of first team opportunities.
However, now that he has emerged the number one impact player for Leicester boss, Brendan Rodgers, who turn to the Eagles’ out-of-favour lad in the absence of top scorer, Jamie Vardy, away at the birth of his child, Iheanacho is beaming with delight once again.
Iheanacho said : “It’s always a good feeling to get a goal in the team. So, as a striker, you always want to get a goal and I’m not playing too much, so you have to keep your mentality up there, so you need to keep going.
“Whenever you get a chance, you take it, so I just need to keep my head up, keeping working hard every day, so if I get my chance, I’ll take it. I’ll keep going as a professional, so I just have to keep going.”
