Nigeria’s campaigners in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup, Rangers International of Enugu and Enyimba of Aba both travel out of the country this week to keep dates with opponents in their third group matches of the second-tier continental competition, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Enyimba will be in Algeria to take their pound of flesh out on AC Paradou, Rangers have a date to keep with against FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania, but both Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs need away victories to stay afloat in the race for the knock-out stage.
Heading into this weekend’s away fixtures, both south-east clubs took to the south-west of Nigeria to set up training camps in Ogun State, after also playing away games in the NPFL last weekend, when Enyimba got a 1-1 draw in Kano against Jigawa Golden Stars while Rangers fell 1-0 at Kwara United of Ilorin.
Enyimba will still be without central defensive pair Nelson Ogbonnaya and Ifeanyi Anaemena for the game but goalkeepers Olufemi Kayode and Theophilus Afelokhai should make the trip to Algeria, ahead of which The People’s Elephant moved from Kano to Otta on Monday afternoon.
Similarly, Rangers arrived in Ijebu-Ode same day for closed camping, with the technical crew, led by Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf, who is on secondment to The Flying Antelopes by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), working with 18 players, ahead of Sunday’s must-win game.
The Coal City side will travel to Lagos on Wednesday before flying out from Lagos on Thursday, via Gabon to Mauritania, where they will play the match on Sunday in Nouakchott.
