Juventus of Italy defender, Danilo has been ruled out of an appearance for Brazil in next month’s international friendly against Nigeria’s Super Eagles, as an injury copped by the 28-year-old full-back has knocked him out of the game billed for Singapore National Stadium on October 13th.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that the former Manchester City lad will not have the chance of facing Nigeria’s Italy-based duo of Ola Aina from AS Torino and William Troost-Ekong of Udinese in Singapore, after he was forced off the pitch in the 19th minute of Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Brescia.
Any hope held by Danilo of being there to battle Nigeria in the Asian island nation next month was dashed when Juve disclosed that he cannot resume playing until after the international break, after suffering a left thigh muscle injury.
The injury was confirmed after tests were carried out on Danilo at the Serie A clubs’ JMedical Centre, where it was diagnosed that he will need at least two weeks out, before returning to the after the international break.
Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) have not yet announced a replacement for Danilo, who will now miss the opportunity of further hobnobbing with the other invitees for the Samba Boys’ back-four, while he also set to miss Serie A games against SPAL and Inter Milan, in addition to a Champions League meeting with Bayer Leverkusen.
Though Danilo could return for The Old Lady’s home clash with Bologna mid-next month, he will not join Daniel Alves (São Paulo), Alex Sandro (Juventus), Renan Lodi (Atlético de Madrid), Thiago Silva, Marquinhos (PSG), Éder Militão (Real Madrid) and Rodrigo Caio (Flamengo) in the roll call of defenders for the friendlies against Senegal and Nigeria.
While Juve will turn to recuperating Mattia De Sciglio to fill in for Danilo, or be forced to play deft winger, Juan Cuadrado as a wing-back to fill the void, Brazil coach, Tite will seek a replacement for the former Man City and Real Madrid defender for Le Selecao, who will first face Senegal and then Nigeria at the same venue three days apart.
