Crotone of Italy striker, Simoen Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy) has been named player of the month in the Italian Serie B, following his stunning goals and top performances for his second-tier club, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although ‘Simy’ has not gained any invitation to the Super Eagles, since his cameo outing in two matches at the 2018 World Cup min Russia, he keeps doing well for his club, and the former Portimonense and Gil Vicente of Portugal towering attacker has now gained due recognition in the Land of The Azzurri.
Such it is that the 27-year old ‘Simy’ is now the lower division league’s best player for the month of October, after hitting the net on five occasions, as he stepped up his quest to help his side gain promotion back to the Serie A at the end of this season.
The Onitsha-born tall attacker scored twice against Venezia and Virtus Entella, then added one in a 2-1 loss to Chievo Verona, thereby setting him up for the gong ahead of Prescara’s Josè Machin, Empoli’s Leo Stulac and Spezia’s Elio Capradossi.
It becomes the second time ‘Simy’ will win the player of the month award in Serie B, with his first feel of the prestigious prize coming earlier this year in March.
