Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu is reportedly ready to quit the French Ligue 1 club and join Galatasaray of Turkey this summer, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Details of the report out of France indicates that Kalu is dissatisfied with his current bit-part roles at Bordeaux, and the 25-year-old former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium star is eager to move on.
He is now seriously thinking of joining fellow-Nigerian attacker, Henry Onyekuru at the Turkish Super Lig champions this summer, with a view towards improving on his current status that has seen him hit home just once in 20 league appearances for Les Girondins in the recently cancelled season.
Although Onyekuru’s future at Gala is still hanging in the air, as they are yet to reach a suitable agreement with his parent club, AS Monaco of France, over turning his current loan spell into a full transfer, Kalu is bent on making the move in the coming month.
A report by Girondis33.com pointed out that Kalu is also eager to join the Turkish title holders this summer despite several interests from a handful of top clubs across Europe, as the Abia State-born forward, who joined Bordeaux from Gent in 2018, has failed to justify the €8m fee spent on him by the Ligue 1 side.
Dramatically, Bordeaux’s coach, Paolo Souza recently openly criticized the Super Eagles’ winger for not showing enough commitment in training with the squad and the report adds that top shots at the team are now also willing to let Kalu leave, and they have placed a price tag of €10m of the versatile player, though he has scored only four goals in 41 appearances for them.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “Samuel Kalu was conspicuously absent from the training session at French Ligue 1 club FC Girondins de Bordeaux on Monday, June 22. Bordeaux have started preparations for the new season but without two of their African stars Kalu and Edson Mexer.
“French journalist Clement Carpentier has tweeted that the two players were unable to return to France due to flight restrictions within Nigeria and Mozambique. The 22-year-old is expected to return to France as from July 1 when international flights from Africa to France begin operations after the border was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Kalu’s future at Bordeaux has been the subject of speculation since the January transfer window, with reports linking him with a possible move to Galatasaray. The winger found himself back in favour towards the end of the curtailed season, starting the last three games played by Bordeaux in the Ligue 1 after he was omitted from five consecutive matchday squads.”
