Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze is bound to become the highest Nigerian transfer ever, should his club hold firm to their current valuation of the player at €63m and convince Real Madrid to buy him for that amount in the January transfer window, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although independent transfer data rates Chukwueze in the region of €30m, Villarreal fixed a release clause of €63m into his last contract, ostensibly to ward off interest in the lad from other clubs in the lad, but, with Real Madrid now showing a strong desire to buy him next month, The Yellow Submarine are bound to be tested in their resolve to stick to their asking price.
A report by Alberto Rambla in Don Balon disclosed that Real’s president, Florentino Pérez is very keen on getting Chukwueze into the ranks at Santiago Bernabéu, and the top shot is said to be in continuous communication with scouts over the Super Eagles’ youngster’s progress, with a view toward putting in a formal bid.
Perez knows that Chukwueze has also attracted attention from top clubs in the English Premier League, French Ligue 1, German Bundesliga and La Liga, with several suitors lining up for the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation and gold medalist, who has 11 goals and five assists in 52 matches with Villarreal.
It means Madrid maty have to break the bank in order to price away Chukwueze, who is one of the nominees for 2019 African Young Footballer of The Year and was shortlisted for the Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy awards that were won by Joao Felix and Matthijs de Ligt respectively.
