Rangers International of Enugu acting captain, Tope Olusesi has admitted that the Coal City club have not been at their best in recent time, but insists they still have a big chance of winning this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
Megasportsarena.com can report further that Olusesi pointed out that The Flying Antelopes have three outstanding matches to play in the league, and he believes they will fly up the table once they get maximum nine points from all of those games, which he says they aim to do.
With their fortune in the CAF Confederation Cup appearing to be over, following last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home with Nouadhibou in their fourth group match, Olusesi and his pals will now be free of distractions from the continental terrain, which is apparently one of the factors he is putting into consideration in declaring that his team will soon be title contenders in the NPFL.
Heading into those outstanding matches, Rangers, who won the league title in 2016, after toiling fruitless for 30 years, are currently placed last on the NPFL log, but Olusesi stressed that is not where they belong, and he assured their fans that songs of victory will soon resonate through the home ground at ‘The Cathedral,’ Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Ogui Road, Enugu.
Olusesi declared: “We are not happy with where we are at the moment, because Rangers is a club that is big, and we should not be struggling with relegation. We are not giving up, though, because we have three matches outstanding, which means nine points to play for. We will play with all that we have to get all those nine points, and you will see the antelopes flying again.”
