Late executive committee member of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and former chairman of Enugu State Football Association, Chief Chidi Offor Okenwa will be laid to rest on 10th June, megasportsarena.com reports.
This is sequel to a confirmation relayed to the NFF by Enugu State FA, which rolled out details of the burial rtes for Okenwa, who died on 5th May.
A press statement by the communications department of the NFF revealed that members of the executive committee last week observed a minute’s silence before their latest meeting via video conferencing, in honour of Okenwa, who was part of the meeting held by the same provision on 24th April, before his death 11 days later.
While describing Okenwa, who was also chairman of lower division Nigerian National League (NNL) as charismatic, eloquent, energetic and amiable, the statement added that NFF president, Amaju Melvin Pinnick and the board members were all heartbroken, even as they prayed for the repose of the late football administrator’s soul.
A letter signed by Enugu State FA secretary, Francis Ugwu read: “We humbly wish to inform all the zonal chairmen that the family of Late Hon. Chidi Ofo Okenwa has scheduled the burial to hold on 10th June 2020 at his family compound.
“The family assured that the burial will be in accordance with the National/State conditions and directives for burial in the State. Ikem Okenwa, on behalf of the family, and in a formal letter conveying the sad news to the NFF President, solicited for your prayers and support during this trying period.”
