Queens Park Rangers’ of England rave of the moment, Eberechi Eze has apparently missed out on a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur in January due to the sack of Mauricio Pochettino by last season’s losing finalists in the UEFA Champions League, megasportsarena.com reports.
News had been rife about a possible step up for Eze from starring in the lower-cadre English Championship to action with Spurs in the top-flight division next year, but that projection may be cancelled by the fellow-London-based club’s sacking of Pochettino.
A report by popular British tabloid, The Sun further indicated that Eze’s hopes of landing a deal with Spurs could be off, despite earlier feelers that he £20m-rated midfielder had been top of The Lilywhites’ transfer list, after being tracked by many clubs in the English Premier League.
His huge impact with QPR in the Championship has also seen Eze pursued by Nigeria for a switch in national team allegiance, while Spurs were said to be at the head of the queue for a potential January transfer, after their sacked boss, Pochettino expressed strong interest in the lad.
The Argentine gaffer is said to have even instructed his scouts to make detailed assessments of Eze’s ability, quality, value and current form ahead of a potential bid in January, but the chances of that move becoming reality are now under threat following Pochettino’s ouster last week.
