David disclosed further that Vom Steeg, who is the soccer head coach at University of California Santa Barbara, USA, will facilitate a coaching clinic, structuring of his charity foundation and pick talents from a screening process, through which a couple of outstanding Lagos-based kids will be selected for full scholarships in God’s Own Country.

David, who is now fully based in the USA, said the talent hunt venture, which will hold from December 20 to 22 at First Bank Field, Satellite Town, Lagos, is part of his contributions to the society that produced him, and giving something back to teams like Santana Boys of Ojo as well as the Surulere-based duo of National Grassroots Dream Team and Community Action Through Sports (CATS), both of which he played for before travelling abroad.
He added: “Angels of The World, a non-profit based in Gig Harbor Washington, USA is bringing College Showcase to Lagos in December. A program that aims to promote the importance of higher education beyond the Secondary school level.
“On its first edition this December, the University of California Santa Barbara’s head coach Tim Vom Steeg, will be coming as a guest speaker to inspire the SSS 3 students and grassroots coaches that will be in attendance.
“Mr. Vom Steeg is not just coming as a guest speaker but as a scout, looking for two-three SSS 3 student-athletes to award them the opportunity of travelling to America Fall of 2020 to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara on scholarship.
“Also in attendance for the event will be the President and Co-founder of Angels of The World, Machael David, a graduate from UC Santa Barbara.
“After college, Mr. David was drafted to play professional football by Colorado Rapids in the US. Unfortunately for him, cancer ended his football career early but opened a new door for him to create opportunities for the youth of Nigeria to discover their God-given gifts and purpose.
“In the same December, he will be hosting a football tournament for under – 13 boys/girls called, Tournament of Angels to select 36 young footballers to be in a life-changing seven-year development program. The 36 selected kids will have all their school fees and supplies paid for.
“They will receive daily meals, basic health care, financial support, and many more. Every two years, an additional 36 kids will be selected to join the program until no child in Nigeria lacks basic human needs or access to higher education.
“Both the College Showcase and Tournament of Angels will be a life-changing experience for all the youth involved, as well as the grassroots coaches. Mr. David and Mr. Vomsteeg will also be visiting some of the Oba’s in Lagos to receive their blessings on Thursday morning December 19th, before hosting a night with grassroots coaches at De Santiago Milan Hotel in Festac Town, Lagos.
