Lille Metropole of France striker, Victor Osimhen might miss out on his ambition of moving to a bigger club n the summer transfer window, as his current club’s asking price of £75m is said to be scaring off all credible suitors, even as speculation continues rising over his next port of call, megasportsarena.com reports.
The situation has led to a dramatic rebuttal of initial reports that Chelsea of England had tabled a £75m bid for Osimhen, while their English Premier League rivals, Liverpool have also been distanced from a concrete move for the 21-year-old striker, who has been linked with a number of top sides across Europe, following an impressive first ever campaign with Lille.
Osimhen had already amassed 13 French Ligue 1 goals and 1 across all competitions before the season was initially suspended then cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic thereby making it credible that Liverpool and Chelsea have both been credited with interest in him, but they are shying away from a report that Lille recently received a £75m bid for his signature.
An update provided by Football.london noted that, while Chelsea remain interested in Osimhen, The Blues have not tabled a formal bid for him, even as additional information affirmed that their EPL rivals, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both keeping eyes on thing.
The report, though, noted further that it is unlikely that Lille will secure a £75m transfer fee for Osmhen in the current financial climate caused by coronavirus, even as he favours a move to the Premier League should he depart France this summer.
Another report by online media outlet, Telefoot writer, Abdellah Boulma pointed out that The Blues cannot splash €75m on Osimhen, regardless of what Lille president, Gerard Lopez might have sad early last week, when he claimed his club wee offered that amount by one of many suitors currently in the hunt for the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer.
Thought the credible writer, who is also the editor of Les Cahiers du Football, confirmed that the bid in question actually came from Tottenham, and equally noted that Osimhen favours a move to the EPL over a deal in Italy, the financial impact of coronavirus on Europe’s top clubs is likely to curb spending power from all teams that are sad to be gunning for the youngster.
Boulma added on social media: “The leaders of LOSC would have received an offer from Chelsea for the Nigerian international Osimhen. But the amount advanced of €85m is erroneous and greatly overestimated.”
