Lille Metropole of France striker, Victor Osimhen has set his mind on making a summer transfer to any club in the English Premier League his priority, even as interest is coming his way from the quartet of Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and as Napoli in Italy as well as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla in Spain.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, while the horde of links he has with the high-profile lot from the Spanish LaLiga and Italian Serie A would tempt any young player, Osimhen is thinking differently, as the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium attacker is looking only towards England.
The report out of France states that the 21-year-old product of Lagos-based Ultimate Strikers Football Academy has already decided he wants to continue his career progression with a deal in the English Premier League, having enjoyed an incredible first season in France, with 13 goals on the domestic front, 18 across all competitions, and six assists to boot.
Details of the report by La Voix du Nord indicate that Osimhen’s agent has already ruled out a move to Italy for his ward and, though Barca or Madrid could provide very tempting options for him as well, the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer prefers moving next to England.
This comes amidst reports that Osimhen has earned a spot on the Ligue 1 Team of the Season chosen by legendary former France midfielder, Luis Fernández, who now works as a pundit for beIN SPORTS; after the Super Eagles’ youngster had earlier been named among substitutes in both of France Football and L’Equipe’s best 11 of the recently cancelled campaign as well.
Osimhen, who finished as the highest scoring Nigerian in Europe’s top five leagues, is placed as a twin striker in a 4-4-2 formation alongside the Ligue 1’s joint-top scorer, Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder, with PSG’s Neymar on the left of midfield and teammate, Kylian Mbappe on the right.
Stade Rennes starlet, Eduardo Camavinga and Monaco’s Aleksandr Golovin were selected as the holding midfielders, defence has Juan Bernat (PSG), Yunis Abdelhamid (Reims), Аlvaro González (Marseille) and Hamari Traore (Rennes), with Matz Sels (Strasbourg) in goal.
It is another confirmation of the fast-rising pedigree of Osimhen, who struck target against nine different teams the campaign, with his bull’s eye hits coming against FC Nantes, Saint-Étienne, SC Angers, Strasbourg, Nîmes, Dijon, Stade Brest, AS Monaco and Olympique Marseille, which set him up for the unfolding summer transfer rush, for which he is now set to speak with the top brass at Lille to decide his future.
