Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure looks closer than ever to the exit door at the new Belgian champions, as the team’s coach, Philippe Clement appears to have given up in his battle to keep the Super Eagles’ rookie, megasportsarena.com reports.
With several clubs angling to sign Bonaventure this summer, after the former Ukraine-based attacker ht a rich vein of form and struck goals against Real Madrid of Spain and Manchester United of England in continental competitions, Clement admits Brugge stand a slim chance in keeping the lad.
Although the gaffer insists Bonaventure is not up for sale, he equally acknowledged that they are bracing to losing the one-cap Super Eagles’ invitee, who had nine goals to his name this term and the chances of him moving on are now brighter than ever before.
The tactician’s down-to-earth verdict comes against the backdrop of reports that the 22-year-old Bonaventure s wanted by Newcastle United, Arsenal, Brighton, Sheffield United, Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers of England, AS Monaco of France, Sampdoria of Italy as well as Real Madrid, after he scored twice against the Spanish giants in the UEFA Champions League and once against Man United in the Europa League.
Brugge are now ready to face the inevitable exit of Bonaventure, who had previously been linked with a departure from the Belgian champions last summer but stayed put when the window closed and ended up signing a new deal, which saw an increase in his valuation especially he won the Belgian First Division title twice in three years.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, he was valued in the region of 25 million euros, a fee which is now deemed to be excessive because of the current financial crisis clubs are experiencing due to the virus but that has not stopped interest spreading for the youngster who joined Brugge from Zorya Lugansk of Ukraine in 2017; and Clement admits Bonaventure is edging closer to the exit.
Clement told Derniere Heure: “It is very likely that Dennis will leave. He can also count on a lot of interest. It is the time for him to take a new step.”
