Chelsea of England striker, Tammy Abraham appears to be making the best of the suspension of football action and stay-at-home caused by coronavirus, as he is using the time provided by the lockdown to satisfy his strong appetite for a tasty Nigerian delicacy called ‘jollof rice’ which is basically a coloured dimension to the cereal, laced with seasonings and other condiments.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, although ‘jollof rice’ is mostly set aside for festivities and special days, Abraham has revealed that he has had a lot of it already, as he waits on his family members to prepare it specially for him, and he now knows the difference between the Nigerian variant and that from Ghana.
While sharing his experience in isolation, Abraham, who joined Chelsea in 2004 before spending time on loan at Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa in quick succession, declared that the Nigerian version of jollof rice is better than that from Ghana, even as the England international striker thanked his mother, sister and father for cooking it for him just the way he likes it.
Abraham told BBC’s Football Focus: “Can I cook Jollof? Absolutely not but my mum can so probably the meal I have had most in quarantine has been Jollof rice. My sister or my mum or dad cook for me, I am lucky to have them in the house and not have to do it myself.
“The Nigeria version is my choice to be honest. The Ghanaian one is a little bit more spicy but it is about the flavours, not just about the spice, how it sits in your mouth, how it digests into your stomach.”
