Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has attracted talk about a possible move to FC Barcelona of Spain this summer, megasportsarena.com reports.
The report out of The Land of The Armada states that Ndidi’s line of top performances for The Foxes have so much endeared him to top officials at Barcelona, who have now placed him in their wish list, as they start preparing for this summer’s transfer window.
Although the leagues across Europe are currently on hold, due to coronavirus, Barca do not want to be caught napping when what could be a qucikfire resatart and conclusion eventually comes in May, hence their sudden move to include Ndidi in their roster of espied defensive midfielders.
Spanish sports daily, Diario AS named Ndidi among five defensive midfielders being considered by Barca as a possible summer reinforcements, with the other four being targeted said to be high among the most coveted players in European football at the moment.
Linked along with Ndidi with possible summer moves to Camp Nou are Benfica’s Florentino, Lille’s Boubakary Soumaré, Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga and Chelsea’s French World Cup winner N’Golo Kante.
Of the five defensive midfielders reportedly on the radar of Barca, Ndidi has scored the most career goals (15 in total) over the course of the last five seasons, ahead of Kante, who has 12 goals to his name.
However, it might take a hefty pay day for The Catalans to hook the 23-year-old former Racing Genk of Belgium central-defender-turned-holding-midfielder, as Ndidi has a contract running with Leicester until the end of the 2023/24 season.
