Lorient of France fast-rising striker, Terem Moffi has received a massive tip for greater and better things ahead of him, as a leading analyst of Nigerian players abroad, Ikenwa Nnabuogor reckons that the youngster could go on be his country’s most expensive player ever.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Nnabuogor, who is renowned for turning up live in Europe to cover information about Nigerian players at their various bases, noted that the rate at which Moffi is going the lad will soon get ‘the costliest tag’ among players from the Anglophone West African country.
This comes at point reports out of Europe revealed that Moffi’s immediate past club, KV Kortrijk of Belgium may soon cash in on another top transfer for the 21-year-old forward, who has been one huge revelation this season in the French Ligue 1.
Various media sources have tipped him to make another major move before long, from which Kortrijk will gain 20% of any deal for the in-form lad, who spent less than six months with them, but they still got eight million Euro when they sold him to Lorient in the summer.
The all-action striker signed a contract for three years with option for an additional year, but Lorient may now cash in on his superlative displays, especially with Ligue 1 rivals, Olympique Marseille said to be among the top clubs that asked after him before his move to France.
Nnabuogor added in his column for SCORENigeria.com.ng that, going by the interest that Moffi is now generating across Europe, following his rain of goals with Lorient, t5he former Golden Eaglets’ reject is on the threshold of his breakthrough.
Nnabuogor wrote in part; “It is no surprise that FC Lorient striker Terem Moffi is already attracting attention from bigger clubs just a few months after he stormed the French Ligue 1 from Belgium’s KV Kortrijk.
“Smarting from his superlative performances for the relegation-threatened FC Lorient, several top clubs are now circling around the 21-year-old striker head of the summer transfer window.
“Moffi, sourced from Nigerian Youth Soccer Academy, Calabar, and Clique Sports Academy, Lagos, has confidently confirmed his role as the leading light in the “gloom” for the modest club, struggling to avoid relegation in the French Ligue 1.
“After a rather slow start following his transfer from Kortrijk, Moffi proved he was worth the record fee paid for his transfer by finding the back of the net in regular fashion to maintain a steady rise from relegation waters for the embattled club.
“Amidst his club’s gloom, Moffi’s lights have continued to shine and the reward of this is the attention from bigger clubs threatening to break the bank to prise him away from Lorient.”
