Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo was forced out of action at the weekend in La Liga, after a clash of heads with a teammate left him dizzy and he made an early exit from his side’s 2-0 loss to Levante, megasportsarena.com reports.
Omeruo went into the Spanish La Liga fixture with lots of enthusiasm on Saturday afternoon, as he was back in his side’s starting 11 for the second fixture running, but his day was soon spoilt, following a clash of heads with Aitor Ruibal.
The clash of heads led to Omeruo’s substitution in the 73rd minute, after he went up for an aerial ball, but ended up slamming his forehead into the right eye of Ruibal, leaving both players with the need to receive treatment on the pitch due to concussion.
However, while Ruibal was able to return to action, Omeruo asked to substituted five minutes later because he became dizzy, and Leganes’ coach, Javier Aguirre noted afterwards that, had the Super Eagles’ stopper stayed on the pitch, he risked suffering an internal injury.
It was Omeruo’s 16th league appearance of the season and, despite him failing to complete the encounter, Levante held unto snatch maximum points with first half goals from Ruben Rochina and Roger Marti, much to the delight of Aguirre.
Aguirre expatiated: “Omeruo there was no blood but he got dizzy, he asked for the change and that’s it. A work accident, I see it that way.”
