Nigerian ace female sprinter, Blessing Okagbare has revealed how much joy she took from playing a role in educating and inspiring some choice students in Lagos during virtual career talk programmes all through last week, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Although the Beijing 2008 bronze medalist and multiple-African and Commonwealth champion admitted it was a strenuous process she faced having to keep her appointments with the students on a daily basis, the lass from Sapele in Delta State enthused that she derived a lot of pleasure from the project.
Aside taking pleasure in passing on both academic and guidance lessons to the students and pupils in Primary 6, Okagbare added that she was glad with the opportunity she had to stay busy and focused during the forced off-season away from athletics events across the world, while also contributing her own quota towards imparting on Nigeria’s future leaders.
The African women’s 100m record holder took to social media to reveal her thoughts about the training programme, and concluded with a verdict that it was truly worthwhile getting a chance to inspire young Nigerians on what it takes to lay a solid foundation for their careers, efforts, ideals and goals that can make their lives fruitful in years to come.
Okagbare enthused: “It’s been a long week with training and classes but one thing that really made my week was being able to inspire a future generation of stars. I had the pleasure of a virtual career talk with primary 6 students of @greenwoodhouseschoolikoyi. (Nigeria).”
