2022 C’Wealth Games: Four Nigerian Boxers Punch Into The Medal Zone

Team Nigeria is guaranteed four medals in the boxing event of the 2022 Commonwealth Games as the pugilists fought themselves into the semifinals on Friday, Megasportsarena.com reports.

Ifeanyi Onyekwere, Jacinta Umunnakwe, Elizabeth Oshoba and Cynthia Ogunsemilore will be action on Saturday and are guaranteed at least bronze medals.

To get to this stage, Ifeanyi Onyekwere outboxed Marcel Jerome Mouafo Feujio of Canada 5-0 in the men’s super-heavyweight +92kg division.

Elizabeth Oshoba decisioned Tianna Guy Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in a women’s featherweight while Cynthia Ogunsemilore out-hustled Botswana’s Aratwa Kasemang in a lightweight match.

Jacinta Umunnakwe is also assured of at least a bronze medal in the 70-75kg as her Tongan opponent pulled out of their quarter-final bout.
