2020 C’Wealth Games: Oborududu Strikes Another Gold For Team Nigeria In Wrestling!

1

Blessing Oborududu added her name to Team Nigeria’s medal list as she won a gold medal in the 68kg women’s category, Megasportsarena.com reports.

She defended her women’s freestyle crown with a 5-1 success over Linda Morais of Canada.

This was a heavyweight battle between Oborududu, an Olympic silver medallist and Morais, a 2019 world champion.

Oborududu racked up the opening points when she pushed Morais out of the mat as the Canadian almost collided with the photographers.

With a 2-0 lead at the break, Oborududu had the momentum and increased her advantage when she got Morais outside the ring.

Oborududu had to receive treatment following a blow to the head before Morais’ coach was given a warning by the referee.

Morais cut the deficit as she tried to snatch gold but Oborududu registered a further two points to complete victory.

Team Nigeria has now won two gold and one silver medals in the wrestling event of Birmingham 2022.
