2022 C’Wealth Games: Team Nigeria Wins 8th Gold Medal


Team Nigeria got its eighth gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Saturday as Eucharia Iyiazi threw a games record 10.03m to win the women’s F55-57 shot put, reports. 

It was first and third for Nigeria with Ugochi Alam grabbing the bronze medal with an effort of 9.30m.

Nigeria’s 4 x 100m relay men (38:85) and women’s (42:57) teams won their semi final races and will be up against other qualifiers for the finals on Sunday.

The duo Esther Isa and Temitope Adeshina finished ninth and tenth in the women’s high jump final.

Team Nigeria now has a total of eight gold in Birmingham with more are being expected.
