Any hope held by Leicester City of England, Wilfred Onynyen Ndidi of making a summer exit from King Power Stadium might have been dashed by The Foxes’ coach, Brendan Rodgers, who stressed that he is not ready let an player go, megasportsarena.com reports.
In the backdrop of recent reports that Ndidi could eventually be on his way out of Leicester, following five successful seasons with the 2016 English Premier League champions, Rodgers admitted he is desperate to keep his squad together this summer.
Consequently, Ndidi could yet again miss out on his often repeated links with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United, as Rodgers has urged his club’s top brass to ensure they keep hold of all their key players this summer.
This is despite the club recording a loss of nearly £70m in their latest financial results and sales for players like Ndidi could provide fresh cash in their coffers, but the tactician from Ireland insists getting decent results on the pitch is top priority for him.
In effect, Ndidi should start thinking of adding to his years at King Power Stadium, where the former star of Racing Genk of Belgium keeps enacting top marks in various aspects of the game every season, and looks certain to help The Foxes into Europe once again this term.
Rodgers said ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester United in the English FA Cup quarter-finals: “If there’s a summer where you maybe wouldn’t be looking to lose your players it would be this summer.
“We want to keep the players we have and add to them as opposed to moving any on. That would be the message as from now. You always plan to keep your players but you always have to have a ‘what if?’ scenario.
“As I sit here I can’t see us losing anyone this summer but I’ve maybe said that before. I may have said that with Ben Chilwell, and he’s gone. But we certainly don’t plan to lose anyone.”
