Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has found yet another high rating coming his way, as he has been rated second best overall in the English Premier League in terms of tackles, megasportsarena.com reports.
Latest statistics from England’s elite clubs’ competition revealed that the former Racing Genk of Belgium central-defender-turned-holding midfielder’s display over the course of March was rated at 7.53, which was good enough to earn him a spot in the league’s team of the month.
Dramatically, though, Ndidi ranks second behind Super Eagles’ pal, Kelechi Iheanacho, who has a pool of 8.02 in the overall ratings, also good enough for him to be included in the EPL’s Team of the Month ratings by football statistics website, Whoscored.
The portal named Ndidi as central midfielder along with Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City in a 4-4-2 formation, while Iheanacho pairs Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane in attack, with both ratings based on the fact the Nigerian duo had been picked by Leicester’s coach, Brendan Rodgers in all of his side’s matches last month.
Ndidi’s citation for the nominations read in part: “(He) finishes March with the second most tackles and interceptions combined (20) in the Premier League. Not just at his best defensively in March, Ndidi even registered two assists in three league matches. He registered six key passes in that time, half of his total for the campaign.”
Similarly, Ndidi’s Eagles’ pal’s verdict went thus: “Kelechi Iheanacho scored in all three of his league appearances in March, finishing with five goals in total after capping the month with a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over strugglers Sheffield United.
“Iheanacho unsurprisngly claimed a perfect 10 rating against the Blades, having also completed six dribbles, one fewer than he had managed all season prior to that. The 24-year-old has now scored as many non-penalty league goals as striker partner Jamie Vardy this season (6).”
