Manchester United of England youngster, Shola Shoretire will not be in action for The Red Devils against AC Milan of Italy in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League cracker, as he has been left with the club’s youth team instead, megasportsarena.com reports.
Despite having settled in firmly with the senior team and already seen action in Europe this season, Shoretire has been denied the chance of making his third appearance for United’s first team when they take on Milan in a round of 16 second leg clash at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Shoretire made his professional debut against Newcastle United on February 21 and four days later became United’s youngest player ever in European competition when he got off the bench to replace Mason Greenwood in the 76th minute of a goalless draw versus Real Sociedad of Spain.
However, despite his history night at Old Trafford and fresh from winning the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for February, the 17-year-old Shoretire has not been included in The Red Devils’ 21-player roster to Milan.
In spite of also training with the first team at Aon Training Complex on Tuesday, Shoretire is staying back in England with Nathan Bishop and Eric Bailly, who were also both named for the first leg, as they will all feature instead for United’s under-23 squad against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday.
United’s coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer disclosed as much during his pre-match press conference and the Norwegian soccer tactician expatiated: “Shola will be playing for the Under-23s; so we felt it was right for him.”
