Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze has left officials at his Spanish LaLiga club excited with his successful surgery on a troublesome groin complaint, which required him being sent to Munich, Germany for a solution, megasportsarena.com reports.
The Yellow Submarine have now stated sheer delight with Chukwueze’s successful surgery at the facility in Munich and he is now expected to return early next month, after missing action for Unai Emery’s side against Tenerife, Granada, Huesca, Girona, Real Sociedad and Levante.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalist aggravated the injury during a 4-0 triumph away to Celta Vigo in the Spanish top-flight, just few minutes after he replaced French midfielder, Etienne Capoue in the 66th minute.
However, good news has come for ‘Samu’ and his friends, as The Yellow Submarine confirmed on Thursday that the 21-year-old left-footer’s operation went well alongside teammate Ruben Pena; with great expectations of a return to top form for Chukwueze.
It was further learnt that Chukwueze underwent surgery under the expert eyes and hands of Dr Ulrike Muschaweck in Munich on Thursday morning, as Villarreal stepped up efforts to revive the youngster, who has not played for them since a 4-0 win against Celta Vigo on January 8.
He then went on to miss six games combined in the Spanish LaLiga and Copa del Rey but, while it had initially been decided by Villarreal’s medical team to carry out a conservative treatment, they eventually decided that the winger had to go under the knife.
Consequently, Chuwkueze was treated by groin specialist Muschaweck, who previously had a long line of successes with the like of Alan Shearer, Michael Owen and Xabi Alonso, but while Villarreal did not give any date for his return to action, Spanish sports daily, Marca estimated that he would need a month at the minimum out on the sidelines.
Incidentally, Emery’s men have not won any of their three league matches since Chukwueze’s absence and were dumped out of Copa del Rey by Levante, with the team sitting fifth place on the Spanish league table on 35 points.
Chukwueze has appeared in 17 league games for the Yellow Submarines, but only six of those have been as a starter for the side that current lie four points behind fourth-placed Sevilla, as they head into this weekend’s La Liga clash away to Elche.
The Yellow Submarine, though, are not agonizing over the development, but hinted at a new lease of life for Chukwueze, who has played 17 LaLiga games this season, with a goal to his credit and became the youngest player to get 100 matches with the Estadio de la Ceramica side.
Villarreal stated via heir official website: “Samuel Chukwueze, who has been out injured receiving treatment for discomfort in his groin, has undergone surgery by Doctor Ulrike Muschaweck in Munich, hoping to definitively relieve him of the said pain.
“Ruben Pena suffered muscle damage to his left hamstring in yesterday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final against Levante. Both footballers’ recovery time will depend on how they progress.”
