Fenerbahçe of Turkey new signing, Bright Osayi-Samuel has confessed that he will take special delight in playing alongside former Arsenal of England ace midfielder, Mesut Ozil, with a verdict that it is a great honour to be a teammate of the Germany international.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, speaking against the backdrop of their formal introduction to the Istanbul-based club’s fans earlier this week, Osayi-Samuel, who joined The Yellow Canaries from Queens Park Rangers of England, added that he hoping to tap from Ozil’s high level of experience.
Osayi-Samuel, who snubbed offers from Celtic of Scotland and Club Brugge of Belgium to join Fernebahce, added that he is relishing the prospect of playing alongside Ozil at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, where he penned a four-year deal at the start of his wek.
He will also play alongside Tanzania internationals, Mbwana Samatta and Marcel Tisserand, but the biggest motivation the 23-year-old admits from the word go is that he will enjoy the chance of playing alongside the former Arsenal and Real Madrid of Spain star, who was a member of Germany’s triumphant 2014 World Cup-winning squad.
Osayi-Samuel added that he is also hoping to help Fenerbahçe compete for the Turkish Super Lig title this season, after finishing seventh on the table last term and, though The Yellow Canaries are currently second with 42 points from 20 games, they need better effort to upstage Istanbul rivals, Besiktas at the top.
Winning the Lig title this term is one target their new Nigerian signing believes is possible, as the lad, who spent four seasons at QPR, enthused that playing alongside the Turkey-born Germany ace will make the task at hand easier.
Osayi-Samuel added that he is personally charged up to justify his joining the team and declared that he is determined to make the fans happy, even as disclosed that he is glad with the chance of featuring for the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium giants and aims to be useful to Erol Bulut’s side, as he added: “It is a great honour for me to have the chance to play along with a player like Mesut Ozil.
“For young players, playing along with the big stars is an important chance. I was watching him when he was young, and now I’m going to train on the same field as him and play for the same team together. What I need to do is work hard and take advantage of his experience.
“I am very excited to be transferred to Fenerbahçe. Playing for Fenerbahçe will be a big challenge for me. I can’t wait to get on the pitch at a big club like Fenerbahçe, to be useful to the team.
“Speaking about Fenerbahçe, I know the fans support our team very passionately. Fenerbahçe is a big club. From the beginning of my transfer process, fans were supportive by sending welcome messages to my social media accounts.
“There’s pressure on players at big clubs. I like to play under pressure, too. That’s why I can’t wait to get on the field. To send a message to our fans, as I said before, I like challenges. Therefore, I transferred to a big club like Fenerbahçe. I believe that if I work hard and do the right things on the field, I will make them happy.”
