Al-Shabab of Saudi Arabia striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has come out with a bold declaration that he is determined to give his very best efforts in order to rain more goals for the club he joined at the start of the month, megasportsarena.com reports.
In the wake of his first goal for the Saudi Super League outfit, which he enacted last weekend in only his second game for the team, Ighalo admitted he is delighted with his bright start to life in the Middle East nation, which has helped him overcome the disappointment he faced during the second half of his extended loan spell at Manchester United of England.
The 31-year-old former Super Eagles’ striker left United at the end of January, when his double loan spell ended with 20-time English Premier League champions, whose current coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not give him the same opportunities he got in the first half of the deal that ran from January to June 2020.
However, after sealing a transfer from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua of China to Al-Shabab in a two-and-a-half-year deal earlier this month, the Ajegunle-born star s happy to hit the ground running in his second game for the side, even after he failed to score the previous weekend, on his debut versus Al-Raed.
He then made his presence count on Saturday, as The White Lions extended their winning streak to four at King Saud University Stadium, with the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations highest goals scorer netting in a 4-0 win over Eagles’ current captain, Ahmed Musa’s former club, Al-Nassr.
The victory took Al-Shabab four points clear at the top of the table and Ighalo, who disclosed that he hopes to help his side extend their winning streak when they welcome 11th placed Al-Fateh this Wednesday, took to social media to celebrate his first goal and declared that he wants more.
Ighalo added that his first goal in the oil rich country is dedicated to his son, Daniel, who marked his birthday anniversary on February 12, while the hitman also hoped that it is the first of many more for him.
The widely-travelled striker, who has now scored a goal across six different leagues including Norway, Spain, Italy, China and England, posted: “The First Of Many More To Come By God’s Grace 😍 Forza AL Shabab 💪🏾 🤩🖤🖤🖤.That was for you son Daniel Ighalo.”
