MK Dons of England fast-rising defender, Matthew Sorinola has gained a lavish dose of accolades from the club’s coach, Russell Martin, who disclosed that he is fascinated daily by the lad’s growing quality and ability in the back-four, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Rusell admitted that Sorinola has to put in more effort and get busier during games, he noted that the youngster showed some rare qualities last weekend, when he provided three super assists in his team’s victory over Accrington Stanley.
With memories of that game still fresh in mind, Russell praised the youngster’s ability to adapt to instructions and hailed him for getting his fourth assist in a 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.
The Dons’ coach confessed that he was amazed to see how Sorinola performed the same feat for the third time in three days, as the Nigerian-born lad set up a goal scored by Cameron Jerome and the former Norwich City striker headed in his pal’s cross from the left in the 22nd minute.
The gaffer has now added that achievement to the earlier feat against Accrington Stanley on Saturday, when the fullback assisted his teammates score three goals in a 3-2 win, such that Russell believes all the instructions he and other people at the club keep passing on are now lifting Sorinola’s game.
Russell Martin told MK Citizen: “The beautiful thing about Matty is that we haven’t been able to play him as much as we wanted, but he’s bounced back. He’s so laid back which helps him on the pitch. There aren’t many like him.
“We ask him to take more risks and to commit more of himself in the final third and he’s doing that. Physically it’s tough but he’s so reliable defensively, so when he adds at the other end for us, it’s fantastic.”
