Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist, Kingsley Michael will not get the chance of a breakthrough season in Serie A with Bologna of Italy, as the top-flight club have loaned him to second-tier Cremonese, megasportsarena.com reports.
In spite of an initial hint Michael would be a regular in Bologna’s squad this season, after they gave him his Serie A debut last month, the mid-class club have balked on their promises to the youngster, as he will now ply his trade in Serie B with Cremonese all through this term.
This was confirmed on Monday by Cremonese, as they announced their acquisition of the soft-spoken versatile midfielder on a season-long loan from Bologna, for whose first team he twinkled in pre-season and got his Serie A debut on the opening day of the campaign against Hellas Verona.
However, the 20-year-old Michael, who won the Cadet World Cup with Nigeria four years ago and was part of the Flying Eagles’ squad to this year’s Youth Mundial in Poland, fell down the pecking order following Bologna’s signing of Chile midfielder, Gary Medel.
Nonetheless, it is a return to familiar terrain for Michael, as it was in the lower cadre he also lined out last season, when he made his debut in the Serie B on loan to Perugia and finished the campaign with 25 appearances under his boots.
