Arsenal of England youth team defender, Joseph Olowu has confirmed that he would be very grateful to get an invitation to the Super Eagles, as he s ready to commit his international future to playing for Nigeria at full senor national team level.
Although he was born in Ibadan on November 27, 1999, Olowu grew up n England, which gave him the opportunity of starring for the British nation at youth team levels, but subsequently ruled him out of any chance with Nigeria’s squad at next year’s FIFA U20 World Cup and the under-23 side at the 2024 Olympics.
Nonetheless, Olowu, who is currently on loan at Cork City of Ireland has now set his mind fully on competing for Nigeria at senior team level and he is already thinking big of a glorious future with the Super Eagles, which he says would make him truly excited and help him accomplish another step forward n his bludgeoning career.
He, however, also admitted that he must first continue his progression with Arsenal, where he signed his first professional contract in December 2017 and has been invited to train with the first team on a number of occasions.
Olowu affirmed: “(Playing for Nigeria) is something I’ve always looked forward to. So, I don’t think I would be overwhelmed. Of course, I’ll be very excited and very grateful for the opportunity but I would not let that affect how I perform.
“When the opportunity does come I’ll take it with both hands and just show what I know I can do and enjoy it for sure. It will be a dream to play for Arsenal first team, to progress it will be amazing honestly speaking.”
