Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi has received thumbs up from his coach, Marco Silva, following the Super Eagles’ star’s performance in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup 2-0 win against Watford, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Watford hinted that Iwobi did not get into his stride early in the game, the tactician went on to name him among three of The Toffees’ stars that twinkled bright after the interval.
While noting that it was a ‘changed’ Iwobi that stepped up his efforts in the second half, Silva added that the former Arsenal playmaker was three Everton players that rose to the occasion and helped the Goodison Park outfit pick a spot into the quarter-finals on Tuesday night.
The coach’s plaudits came after Iwobi, whose 66th minute effort careened off the post, struggled in the first half but improved in the second half, especially after his former Arsenal teammate, Theo Walcott got off The Toffees’ bench, and they both helped to stabilize their team’s quest.
Silva stated: ”Alex Iwobi was different in the second half; he found the spaces and created more between the lines and was more decisive.”
