Former Super Eagles left-back, Ben Iroha (Salinsa) has come out with a bold declaration that the current Nigerian squad has what it takes to stand toe-to-toe with Brazil in this Sunday’s high-profile international friendly match, as he believes the Samba Boys do not have any clear cut superiority and he is not afraid of defeat for the three-time African champions in Singapore, megasportsarena.com reports.
Iroha admitted that Brazil’s squad is star-studded, but he quickly added that the Eagles also have an array of talented youngsters that can hold their own against any opponent in the world, hence his verdict that he is not worried about Nigeria’s chances against the five-time world champions.
Rather than be wary of the potency Neymar and his colleagues will bring to bear on Sunday’s game at Singapore National Stadium, the Africa Cup of Nations 1994 winner and member of the Eagles’ maiden squad to the World Cup at USA ’94 added that the never-say-die Nigerian spirit will come into play during the encounter in the Asian island nation.
He, however, warned that the Eagles’ technical crew must get their selections for the match right, considering that the array of quality players on offer will not gel unless the strategy and tactical approach adopted by the coach is spot on, as well as the way he outlines the lads in order to get the desired impact out of them as a collective squad blending to achieve the same goal.
Iroha boasted: “I’m not worried. We have good young players. We just have to get the right selection and we will get something out of this match. Nigeria no dey carry last. We will not lose, once we plan well for this match and put everything into the right place. We have the right quality of players, only that we have to get our selection right.”
