Cercle Brugge of Belgium attacker, Ike Ugbo could become the next Nigerian player to sign for CSKA Moscow of Russia, who currently have Chidera Ejuke on their cards, megasportsarena.com reports.
The Moscow-based Russian Premier League outfit, who have also been graced in the distant past by Chidi Odiah, Ahmed Musa and Aaron Samuel Olanere, are reportedly keen on making a swoop for free-scoring Ugbo this summer.
Ugbo is making the best of his latest loan deal from Chelsea of England, as he continues waxing strong with Cercle Brugge and shoring up his haul of goals, which have inadvertently drawn up a rash of transfer speculations round him.
With the summer transfer window now looming large, Ugbo’s agent, Oliver Ward, has confirmed that CSKA are interested in signing the former England youth international striker in the summer transfer window.
The Russian army-owned outfit are now said to be in pole position to sign the dark-skinned lad, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions, but the striker’s intermediary also revealed that the Moscow-based club also face competition from other clubs.
Among other clubs that Ugbo has been linked with are Rostov of Russia, Fulham and Watford of England, Racing Genk of Belgium and AS Monaco of France, even as the 22-year-old attacker still has a contract with Chelsea running until June 30, 2022.
All this has ignited frenetic interest and an expected competitive dash for the pivotal member of England’s squad to the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, but has since pledged his international future at senior level to Nigeria.
Ward, who is also co-founder and director of First Access Sports, told Russian news agency, RIA Novosti: “CSKA is really showing interest in Ugbo, but that’s all there is to say at the moment. Ike has many different proposals.”
