Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has soared to an all-time high with The Foxes, as his recent burst of top form for club and country has seen him rate high alongside the club’s top scorer, Jamie Vardy, megasportsarena.com reports.
A new level of relevance has now cropped up for the former Columbus Crew of America and Manchester City of England star, who plundered goals in three back-to-back games before heading out for international duty with the Super Eagles, for which he got an assist in one of two wins.
This is sequel to information on offer from King Power Stadium indicating that ‘Seniorman Kelz,’ who has found all his goals rated in the hunt for Leicester’s best of the past month, looking good to start against his former club this weekend in the English Premier League.
In the reverse fixture in September 2020, Iheanacho lasted only five minutes on the pitch as The Foxes beat Pep Guardiola’s side handsomely, but he now appears set to get more minutes against the side he starred for across two and a half years before joining Leicester in the summer of 2017.
A strong hint in that direction has emerged from Leicester’s coach, Brendan Rodgers, who stated in his pre-match press briefing that he has seen the possibility of pairing Iheanacho with Vardy, thereby paving the way the back-to-form lad to start against The Citizens.
Iheanacho also has a total of seven goals in four matches across all competitions and recently got nominations for Player of the Month as well as four of his goals listed for best of the month at Leicester.
The in-form attacker tallied seven goals in total last month, including a first-ever EPL hat-trick in Leicester’s 5-0 rout of Sheffield United, following which he efforts against Burnley, Brighton and two against The Blades have made the ten-goal best of the best shortlist.
Iheanacho volleyed home first time against Burnley on March 3, after a brilliant chip over the top by Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi, and that 34th minute strike is believed to be the favourite to win The Foxes’ Goal of the Month, as it has also been shortlisted for the EPL’s best in March.
‘Kelele’ now faces competition from Leicester’s Ayoze Pérez and Youri Tielemans, LCFC Women trio of Shannon O’Brien, Esmee De Graaf and Sam Tierney as well as youth team player, Kasey McAteer for The Foxes’ best goal award, but all Rodgers is thinking of for now is whether to start him alongside Vardy this weekend.
Rodgers said: “It just depends on the plan you are looking to put in place. We always look strategically going into every game and where we can gain the advantages against the opponents.
“You can’t say they can’t play together, if you are going to play them and you’re finding that’s your best source of creating and scoring goals then you have to then find a way to put them in the team, but both are playing very, very well.
“Jamie hasn’t scored for a number of games, but his movement you see the quality of his assists – they’ve been first class – and what he gives the team, how he stretches the game that also gives Kelechi the spaces to play in.
“So they both link up very, very well and since they’ve played together they have been outstanding, so we’ll what the game brings, and hopefully they can both play well if they play at the weekend.”
