Bayern Munich of Germany defender, David Olatokunbo Alaba is under intense pressure from Chelsea of England coach, Thomas Tuchel to make the switch from Bavaria to London, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although initial reports at the weekend indicated that Alaba might have settled for a deal at Real Madrid of Spain, thereby snubbing Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City that was also in the race for his signature, Tuchel believes he can use his links with Bayern to swing a deal at Stamford Bridge instead.
This is because Tuchel wants to transform The Blues’ defence and, with his sight already on returning to Germany for his main shopping spree this summer, his prime target appears to be Alaba, who will be out of contract in June.
However, the rnowned lft-back, who was born in Austria to a Nigerian father and mother from Philiphines, is already understood to have committed to Real Madrid next season, though the Nigerian-born Austria captain insists his son has not signed with anyone.
A report by popular German newspaper, BILD adds: “Tuchel’s appointment has seen Chelsea make a new move for departing Bayern Munich defender David Alaba. Along with Alaba, Tuchel is also keen on his Bayern teammate Niklas Sule.”
