SV Mainz 05 of Germany striker, Taiwo Awoniyi is bound to have an additional connection with Liverpool in the coming days, with a former assistant coach at The Reds now touted as his next manager at the struggling German Bundesliga club, megasportsarena.com reports.
Awoniyi and his teammates have struggled thus far in the German top-flight, which occasioned the sack of their former gaffer, and the lad on loan from Liverpool will now be excited to note that the next man likely for the job used to work at Anfield, as the Merseyside outfit’s former back-up tactician, Zeljko Buvac is being linked with a return to Mainz.
The man now flaunted as Awoniyi’s next coach has been out of work since leaving Liverpool last year, but a report by popular German newspaper, BILD indicates that Mainz strongly have Buvac under consideration as their next gaffer, after Sandro Schwarz left as head coach a fortnight ago.
Buvac still lives in Mainz and is a sentimental favourite for the job amongst fans, such that Mainz chief executive, Rouven Schroder admits the prospects of having him back are very high, but equally pointed out that, while the former Liverpool egg is under consideration for another tenure with his team, they are yet to speak with him.
“We are in good conversation. But it should be well thought out. Both sides must be convinced that they want to take this step,” Schroder expatiated.
