Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze could be on his way to Chelsea of England in a mammoth deal worth an all-time high €80m, should his club’s top brass have their way in their latest upwards valuation of the Super Eagles’ rookie, megasportsarena.com reports.
With frenetic transfer interest now rolling round the Chile 2015 FIFA World Cup revelation, who is currently in the short list for 2019 African Young Player of The Year award, Villarreal are set to raise Chukwueze’s release clause by an additional €20m in the coming days.
It is another desperate move by The Yellow Submarine to keep suitors away from the product of Diamond Football Academy, Umuahia, but their resolve is bound to be tested all the way by The Blues, who are said to be one of three English Premier League clubs linked with Chukwueze.
Also reportedly in the hunt for the youngster at Leicester City and Liverpool, but they may have to break the ban in order to have their wish come true, as Spanish newspaper, Marca disclosed that Villarreal are set to increase Chukwueze’s current buyout clause from €60m to €80m in a new agreement with the lad’s management team during forthcoming contract extension talks.
This is in spite of the fact that Villarreal actually signed Chukwueze for only €5500,000 from Diamond Football Academy in 2017, but they believe he has come of age as a regular in the Nigerian national team, with which he has 12 caps, and he has already made 16 appearances this season in La Liga, with three goals and two assists to his name.
