Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia attacker, Ahmed Musa has gained an amazing link that could possibly see him join Super Eagles’ pal, Henry Onyekuru at Galatasaray of Turkey, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although the Eagles’ skipper appears content with what he has been able to gain since joining Al-Nassr from Leicester City of England, his modest aspirations are bound to be tested to the fullest, should Galatasaray table a formal offer before him in the summer transfer window.
While Musa continues holding his own with appreciable marks in the Saudi Arabia Pro-League, the 27-year former Kano Pillars, VV Van Venlo of Holland and CSKA Moscow of Russia star has been more or less playing far from widespread media hype he used to enjoy before making the switch in 2018, such that he could be persuaded in accepting a return to Europe.
Since joining Al-Nassr two years ago, Musa has scored nine goals in 48 matches, while also lifting the Saudi League and Super Cup trophies in 2019, but he could now be on his way to Istanbul this summer, as Galatasaray are already making plans for next season and are keen on adding the fleet-footed attacker-cum-winger to their squad.
Incidentally, Musa had previously linked with a move to Gala’s city mates and Turkish Super Lig rivals, Fenerbahce in the past but, while the Jos-born snubbed the opportunity of renewing the Nigerian tradition at the side that once had Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Uche Okechukwu (Gentle Giant), Emmanuel Emenike, Joseph Ikpo Yobo and Victor Moses, the reported interest from the other side of Istanbul appears to be brighter than ever.
The link comes hot on the heels of similar efforts by Galatasaray to sign Onyekuru on a full contract at the end of his loan deal this season, then see him join forces in attack with Musa, who is Nigeria’s highest goals scorer in FIFA World Cup history, with braces against both Argentina and Iceland at Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018 respectively.
However, an additional report by Tukrish media outlet, Fotospor, stated further that Gala have identified Boca Juniors of Brazil’s Colombian international, Sebastian Villa as a replacement for Onyekuru if he departs at the end of this season.
The Istanbul-based side want to extend the loan of Onyekuru by a year but his parent club, S Monaco of France, are considering a permanent sale of the 22-year-old former KAS Eupen and RSC Anderlecht of Belgium attacker, who returned to Galatasaray in the January window, and has played seven Super Lig games in his second spell with The Lions.
Incidentally, Onyekuru, who also has a single goal and two assists so far this term, is valued at eight million euros by Transfermarkt and tied to Monaco until the end of the 2023/24 season, which means he may jolly well not be around should Musa eventually move to Galatasaray.
