Fulham of England winger, Ademola Lookman copped a scary looking injury last weekend while in action for The Cottagers, but the English Premier League club’s coach, Scott Parker has been in a sort of confused state over the development.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Parker was unable to categorically state what type of knock it ws that forced the lad on loan from RB Leipzig of Germany out of Saturday’s game, even as he envisaged that it was most likely a hamstring complaint.
The gaffer adduced as much while provided an update on the injury suffered by Lookman during his side’s 3-1 loss to Aston Villa on Easter Sunday, even as the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner looked dejected when he was substituted in the 47th minute.
Parker handed starts to Ola Aina, Tosin Adarabioyo and Lookman, with the tact seeming to pay off after their efforts temporarily got Fulham out of relegation zone on goal difference, as Aleksandar Mitrovic tapped into an empty net after pouncing on a defensive error after the hour.
However, two goals from Trezeguet and one by Ollie Watkins turned things around for Villa, with the injury copped by Lookman adding to Parker’s worries before their next match, as the winger went off for Ivan Cavaleiro in the 47th minute.
The coach admits it is a huge blow being without the lad that has been Fulham’s most decisive player this season, with four goals and four assists to his name, such that former Crystal Palace striker, Clinton Morrison reckons that The Cottagers will find it difficult coping without the lad.
That view is backed by statistics that show how Lookman has been a key player for Fulham in his 28 appearances so far this season, but The Cottagers may have to brace to being without him, as Parker hinted that the Nigerian-born winger suffered a hamstring-related injury and the club’s medics will have to determine the extent of the injury.
Parker told FFCtv: “It’s more hamstring to be honest with you. It may be knee, it may be back of the knee but it’s more hamstring. We’ll assess that and see where he is and then we’ll make a call on that, hopefully not too bad but you never know at this moment in time.”
