Chelsea of England striker, Tammy Abraham teed off a strong feeling of nostalgia and euphoria in one of the club’s legends, Didier Drogba, following his goal and style of celebration in Sunday’s 2-1 win away to Arsenal.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Abraham’s 12th goal of the season ensured he gave The Blues a late win in the London derby at Emirates Stadium, and Drogba has now come out to reveal he was shell-shocked with what he saw from the Nigerian-born England international.
This comes at a point reports indicate that Chelsea are still battling to secure an agreement with Abraham over a new contract, but The Mirror disclosed that The Blues’ talks with the lad over a fresh terms of the expected deal have stalled.
Abraham is enjoying a fine season under The Blues’ player-turned-gaffer, Frank Lampard in his first full season at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea are keen to reward him with a new contract but the striker wants parity with Callum Hudson-Odoi, who earns around £180,000-a-week.
Hudson-Odoi has been struggling for form and fitness since signing his new agreement, while Abraham’s continued fiery form and goals are hogging all headlines, with Drogba adding a new twist to it all by singling the lad out for praise after his heroics of the past weekend.
Drogba took to social media to declare that Abraham’s goal and celebration gave him goose bumps, while also admitting he was left mouth agape after Chelsea fought from behind to defeat their hosts in the latest epochal London derby.
Abraham completed the turnaround three minutes after Jorginho cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener in the 83rd minute, as the former Bristyol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa stylishly slotted past Bernd Leno, thanks to Willian’s assist.
In his reaction, Drogba, who scored 13 goals in 13 outings against The Gunners during his playing days with The Blues, added that the winning goal excited him, but Abraham’s celebration was of a deeper impact on him, because it remind the Ivory Coast star of his similar triumphant gesture.
