FC Porto of Portugal left-back, Zaidu Sanusi became the last player to join the Super Eagles’ camp at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, following the emergence of Joe Aribo, Paul Ebere Onuachu and Chidozie Awaziem on Wednesday.
While Aribo and Onuachu had earlier been excused to arrive on Tuesday, reports emerged that Awaziem and Sanusi had also delayed their advent into camp, due to transfer negotiations at their respective bases in Portugal.
However, megasportsarena.com reports that Awaziem eventually arrived alongside Aribo and Onuachu, thereby leaving Sanusi as the only player that was still been expected as at mid-day on Wednesday.
That left a dark cloud of doubt over his chances of featuring in Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Liberia, but he could jolly well be in line to play he next match four days later in Cape Verde.
The arrivals of Aribo, Onuachu and Awaziem increased the number of players in camp to 28, and they all took part in took part in a gym session on Wednesday morning, following which the squad had their first training session on grass in the evening at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
The 28 players in camp as at noon on Wednesday included here goalkeepers – Emil Maduka Okoye, Francis Odinaka Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi; as well as en defenders – Jamilu Coliins, Valentine Ozorwanfor, Shehu Abdullahi, Adekunle Adeleke, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Aderemi Balogun, Ola Aina , Tyronne Ebuehi and Chidozie Awaziem.
Also present are eight midfielders – Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon, Kingsley Michael, Innocent Bonke and Joe Aribo; as well as seven strikers – Kelechi Iheanacho, Terem Moffi, Ahmed Musa, Chidera Ejuke, Henry Onyekuru, Victor Osimhen and Paul Ebere Onuachu.
