SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has gained a massive dose of sweet words from the Italian Serie A club’s new coach, Luciano Spaletti, who described the Super Eagles’ youngster as a complete player from all points of view, megasportsarena.com reports.
Spalletti, who replaced AC Milan legend, Gennaro Gattuso as Napoli’s head coach at the end of last season, went on to acknowledged that he would be counting a lot on the Ultimate Strikers Football Academy of Lagos product, who has previously played for VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France.
The new man in charge noted how important Osimhen eventually became to the club after his big money arrival from Lille, as he overcame several hitches and a dip in form to rain 10 goals, as he overcame a red card in the UEFA Europa League, a scary head injury in the Italian Serie A, and shoulder dislocation in national team action and a bout with coronavirus.
However, while admitting that Osimhen will play an important role in the new season, the new gaffer went on to declare that he also expects to improve on certain aspects of his game, in order to prove himself worthy of a prominent status in the team when the new campaign begins.
Spaletti submitted: “We will rely on Osimhen, he is a strong point of the team because he is a complete player from all points of view. In addition to being able to score, he puts other things into his game, he gives everything.
“Above all, he fights for his teammates and it is very important for the rest of the group because if he starts we can all see him. It is clear that he must improve in some areas and we try to stimulate him and work on these points.
“This is where we find an important answer. Like today, where we gave him a certain type of work and he did not flinch, he made himself available and completed the task. It can’t be better than that. “
