Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus goalkeeper, Franci Odinaka Uzoho has set for himself a personal target of starring in more games with his new club all through this season, megasportsarena.com reports.
After facing a torrid time during his earlier stint in Cyprus, where he first lined out on loan at Anorthosis Famagusta from Deportivo La Coruna of Spain last term, Uzoho admitted he is very delighted with the bright start he has gained at Nicosia and expressed hope that it will get even better for him and the team.
The 20-year-old Uzoho was again solid between the sticks for Nicosia, as he helped them to a 2-0 win over Nea Salamis on Saturday, after which he enthused that everything is turning out better than he had in the second half of last season with Anorthosis Famagusta.
Unlike his days at Famagusta, when his first game was riddled with controversies over his fake health certificate, which led to a fine and one-match ban for him as well as deduction of points for his team, Uzoho started this season with a clean sheet in his first game and his side are now top of the league with two wins out of two.
Uzoho told Owngoalnigeria.com: “Clean sheet is good for the confidence of any goalkeeper and most times it’s a collective effort not just that of the goalkeeper.
“I have to credit the entire team on how we have started this season and hopefully we will sustain it.
“It’s still very early into the season and with lot of games coming up, the chance to get more games is certainly what I’m looking forward to before the end of the season.”
