Racing Genk of Belgium striker, Paul Ebere Onuachu has received a clean bill of health from his recent coronavirus infection and he is set to resume action with his club on Friday, megasportsarena.com gathered.
In contrast with initial worries over the Super Eagles’ lad’s health condition considering that COVID-19 has claimed many lives in Nigeria and several other countries across the world the former FC Midtjylland of Denmark hitman has come out unscathed.
This comes a week after Nigerian football fans were cast into anxious moments when news emerged that Onuachu sent shock waves after he tested positive for the disease following his return from a trip home to Lagos for the burial of Victor Osimhen’s father, despite staying in quarantine for a week on his return to Belgium.
However, good news about Onuachu’s recovery has been provided by his coach at Genk, Hannes Wolf, who admitted that he is excited to have the leggy striker available once again and confirmed that the player should be in action for Friday’s friendly.
The gaffer affirmed that Onuachu has been given a clean bill of health to resume training with his Belgian First Division A side, after returning a negative COVID-19 test, which occasioned cancellation of their pre-season fixture against Eendracht Termien, as the Super Eagles’ rookie had been involved in contact training with his clubmates in preparation for the friendly.
The story, though, has now changed with another friendly set to go ahead and it will involve Onuachu, who was unavailable for Genk’s 3-1 victory over Royal Union Saint-Gilloise on Wednesday.
Wolf said he is happy to welcome back the lanky lad that got on the scorers sheet ten times in his maiden season in Belgium and the gaffer told Het Nieuwsblad: “Paul can also compete against Excelsior on Friday in the exhibition match. He will just train with the group.”
