Trabzonspor of Turkey’s ace midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has declared that he is on mission to regain everything he lost during almost a year out with injury, as he wants to fight hard to get back into the mainframe for club and country, megasportsarena.com reports.
Onazi returned to action with his Turkish Super Lig club in the UEFA Europa League last week, then lined out in the domestic championship at the weekend, and is now seeking regular playing time with the Trabzon-based outfit.
However, he is not stopping at that, as the 26-year-old former SS Lazio of Italy star, who shot to limelight as a member of the Golden Eaglets’ silver-winning squad of Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup says he also wants a recall to the Super Eagles.
He was in the Eagles’ squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, after which the then rookie went on to become vice-captain of the team, until several bouts with injuries put him into the bad books of the head coach, Gernot Rohr.
However, Onazi believes the worst is over, and is looking on the bright side of life for restoration across the board, as he remains happy and grateful to God for helping him recover fully from a career-threatening injury that kept him out since December 2018.
Onazi told AOIFootball.com: “This is the best feeling ever to come back and do what it knows how to do best. I give thanks to God Almighty for his grace. The most important thing is to get back playing which I am doing now; every other thing will fall in place gradually.
“This is something every football player will miss for sure I do miss playing and now that I am back I have worked so hard to get to this point so I want to try to catch up all that I have missed for all this while and then workings towards the national team too.”
