New arrival at English lower division side, Mansfield Town, Oladapo Afolayan is already creating waves in the club he joined earlier this week from West Ham United, as his qualities and attributes have been eulogized by the side’s gaffer, John Dempster.
Megasportsarena.com can report that, so soon after Afolayan signed for Mansfield on a half-season loan deal, Dempster has spoken out with glowing words of praise for the Nigerian-born attacker, who he believes will add better value and extra depth to the team.
Dempster pointed out that Afolayan is a highly-rated frontman, who began his football development at Chelsea, and enthused that the 21-year-old newcomer will add some more potent upfront for Mansfield, where he will spend half of the 2019-2020 season on loan.
Afolayan also has previous stops at Toronto Varsity Blues, Loughborough University and Tooting & Mitcham United, after which he had also been loaned by West Ham to Oldham Athletic for a portion of the 2018-2019 season.
The Stags are now the latest team to get Afolayan, and Dempster was exuding lots of excitement after the youngster trained for the first time with his new teammates at The RH Academy on Thursday morning.
The gaffer, though, admitted that a lot is already being expected from Afolayan, who spent the latter half of last term on loan with Oldham, where he got 10 appearances in the English League Two.
Dempster said: “We’ve done a lot research on him. He’s somebody who will bring something different to the team. He’s full of energy and will run in behind and stretch teams.
”When the opportunity came up to take him on loan we were in competition with other clubs, so we’re really pleased to have him on board.”
