Two former stars of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), James Okwuosa and Maxwell Effiom have sealed late summer transfers, with Kuwait and Norway now their respective bases for the new season, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Okwuosa, who starred for Rangers International of Enugu before moving to South Africa and played for the home-based Eagles, has joined Al Qadsia SC of Kuwait on a two-year deal as a free agent, Effiom moves direct from Enyimba of Aba to Sandnes Ulf of Norway.
The 28-year-old Okwuosa, who has been capped twice by the Super Eagles as well as with Super Sand Eagles at the 2011 Beach Soccer World Cup in Italy, where they reached the quarter-finals before losing to Brazil, previously played for Chippa United, Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates of South Africa between 2012 and 2019.
On the other hand, 19-year-old Effiom, who played for the Flying Eagles at this year’s African U-20 Cup of Nations and FIFA U-20 World Cup, has signed a three-year contract with Sandnes, in a deal that takes him from Enyimba to the Scandinavian country.
