Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has charged his teammates to ensure they put in more effort and commitment during their remaining matches of the season, in order to ensure the club picks a ticket to the UEFA Champions League, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s English FA Cup quarter-finals fixture against equally-ambitious Chelsea on Sunday, and against the backdrop of his side’s inability to win at home in the EPL versus Brighton on Tuesday, as they could only settle for a barren draw at King Power Stadium, Ndidi admitted that The Foxes need to work harder to realize their UCL ambitions.
The 2016 English Premier League champions are yet to win a match since the season resumed last week, after the forced break caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and, after settling for draws in their last two games, Ndidi has now charged his teammates to keep fighting hard, in order for them to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.
After a three-month hiatus, they resumed league action on Saturday away to Watford, with Ben Chilwell’s strike fetching them a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road, but Brendan Rodgers’ men remain third on the EPL log, despite playing out a goalless draw against Brighton at home on Tuesday.
However, with seven games remaining for Leicester in the English top-flight this season, Ndidi is of a view that they will get better results once they work harder, even as he affirmed that they can still keep their spot in the top-four and stage a return to Europe, even as he relished fond memories of their previous continental campaign in the 2016/17 season.
Ndidi told Football Daily: “It will be a plus to us as players, in our careers, if we can play in the Champions League. But it is something we have to work for. It is not about what we have done in past matches. These eight games remaining, it is important for us to actually fight hard.
“(We must work hard) and pick the Champions League ticket. It is something we have to work for, we have to stay there. If we do our best and get the points, then we will get there.”
